Ellen Bothwick
About the Artist
Ellen was a child who loved drawing and painting. She says of herself, "I used my birthday cards as reference pictures and eventually gained confidence and skills to create my own. But, life got in the way for over 45 years and I never had or made time for art. I often said I would take it up again when I retired.
Then 2020 the opportunity to retire arrived at about the same time as the first COVID lockdown. A combination of being “time rich” beyond my dreams and the worry we all had back then, I threw myself into learning and practicing drawing and painting and using different mediums.
Back then I concentrated on my love of dogs and within 6 months was taken on commissions of peoples lives pets.
After about a year I got asked to paint a motorbike. Completely out of my comfort zone but I took on the challenge and have carried on taking challenges. Painting other animals, aeroplanes, portraits, cars, landscapes and still life.
I live in Devizes and am a member of the Lawrence Art Society, Lacock Art Group and Bishop's Canning Art Group.
I’m delighted to have joined the Guild of Wiltshire Artists and have the opportunuty to rub shoulders with artists who have many more years experience than me."
