About the Artist
My working life was in education as a primary school teacher. It is only now, being retired, that I have started to paint regularly.
Though recently moved from the Cotswolds where I was a member of the Cirencester Art Group, I still remain a member of the Aldsworth Art Group with painting days weekly and an annual exhibition. I am also now enjoying painting with the Guild of Wiltshire Artists.
After watercolours, I tried pastels and found them very effective for skies and reflections. During a period of experimenting with grating pastels and using the dust to fill in areas not masked, I produced more stylised pastel paintings. Other times, using inks and collage, I enjoyed experimenting with different visual effects. Recently with acrylics, the use of structure gel has allowed me to obtain more texture.
Having regularly visited the Outer Hebrides for many years, I am aware of the special light in Scottish seascapes and landscapes.
